Photographing the photographer

People visit Greene County for many different reasons.

GreeneCountyNewsOnline publisher Tori Riley used the beautiful April weather Thursday for a photo tour to the county’s Squirrel Hollow park in Grant Township. She stopped at Pleasant Hill Church, north of Squirrel Hollow.

There she met professional artist/muralist/illustrator/photographer Zack Jones of Malvern, owner of the Project Art Church, a 140-year-old Presbyterian Church transformed to a studio/gallery on the main floor, and his home in the basement.

Jones explained he was gathering photos for a possible future project and mentioned his friends, Chuck and Carla Offenburger. He asked if he was in the right neighborhood for more photos. “Keep going that way,” Riley said, pointing south on Redwood Ave. “You’ll see the coolest old stone steps leading up a hill.”

Sure enough, as Riley was stopped to take pictures of a lovely clear stream and the shadows cast by the tall not-yet-leafy trees, Jones pulled up to the Squirrel Hollow steps. Did he take pictures? Of course.

Steps downRiley continued up the hill to the picnic area. The steps leading back down the hill are newer, but still inviting to a photographer.
